Is your relationship failing?

Highlights from our Radio Podcast:

Dana and Don discussed  "What are the signs in a failing relationship?"

Lack of respect or condescending, sometimes you may think his or her sarcasm is their humor, unfortunately, sarcasm is passive hostility, listen next time to yourself or your partner, and address it, because chances are..it doesn't feel good.

Undermining your partner in front of the children.
Talking over your partner when they are trying to speak.
These subtleties chip away at your relationship and eventually leaves the receiver bitter, hurt and disconnected.

The giver hopefully realizes he or she has unresolved complaints but cannot address them.

Both of you need to speak up, calmly and lovingly.  Speak now because the relationship may be in a free fall.  Each of you has the power to take that one step towards recovery.  Have the courage and be the brave one to put yourself out there.

Is your EGO Getting in the way?

Highlights from our Radio Podcast:

How does ego play a role in relationship?

Sharing your heart with someone takes putting your EGO away.  With EGO your walls go up.  When relationships are at risk so is your heart and that's when you or your partner retract.

One couple as an example: married twenty years, he is unhappy about his job and she is not sure why he is unhappy but he doesn't talk to her.  He fears he may be judged or criticized once again.  However in her head she feels rejected and thinks he is deliberately avoiding her, feeling unloved.

She puts a wall up and he can't get through and he puts his wall up.  Two EGOs have sabotaged a once happy marriage.

Listen to how you can avoid this or what to do if you have been going through years of this in your relationship or marriage.

Does Sex Matter? ...For Women

Highlights from our Radio Podcast "Happy Today Divorced Tomorrow?"

We asked the question "Does Sex Matter? for women".

A woman takes longer than a man to be fully engaged.  A lot of this is emotional and mental.

A woman needs to be in good spirits, happy, emotionally connected to her man and romanced.

You could say that all the planets have to be aligned and if one planet goes off course, you need to start the process all over again.

Make sure as a man you ensure you are meeting her needs.  Romancing her, giving her emotional support, talking to her and caressing her.  Get to know her needs and you will get your needs met.

With the Warmest Regards,

Dana and Don

Does Sex Matter? ...For Men

Highlights from Happy Today Divorced Tomorrow? radio blog

we asked the question "Does Sex Matter? for men".

Physically a man needs sex for reasons such as release, a man is industrious and a fixer , problem solver by nature

To please a woman is his desire

To be appreciated by his partner gives him the validation he needs.

validation is one of the six basic human needs.

Emotionally, a man feels connected during and after sex, a sense of attachment, and in a partnership there is a sense of "falling in love".

When the need for sex builds up but no release as in intimacy with his partner the man can become easily aroused perhaps fantasize, perhaps stray.

As our mission to wage war on divorce we encourage and support your relationship. If your sex life is not what you believe it should be and there are problems that are not being addressed then you are closer to divorce. Get the professional help your relationship deserves. Surprise yourself in finding the true happiness that you both deserve.

Unique book on parenting

Please Don't BUY me Ice Cream, a child's rules for priceless parenting,  has been a favorite among many good parents. Along with many other notable therapists, this book has proven to make parenting much more enjoyable, and validating. It is not filled with unrealistic tasks and homework, in fact quite the opposite, it's the children that are telling you Mom and Dad what THEY need. Buy it today, it's an easy read and fun to discuss with the whole family.
Here's to the next generation of healthy people
One little boy avoids making friends he feels guilty leaving his mom home alone. My own mother made me feel bad every time I left the house, she'd say " Go go, have a good time, I'll be ok." sitting there with her sad face I felt torn, miserable and guilty.
We know today's parent are much wiser, but that's because you have access to good resources and you do the research, however, the pain of a lost marriage and divorced home does not take away our sadness nor hide it.
In my book "Please Don't Buy Me Ice cream, a child's rules for priceless parenting" by Dana Greco, points out the very important fact that children cannot solve problems at an adult level. Read this book, order it on Amazon or B&N or send a check to Dana Greco 536 west 111th Street #5 NY NY 10025

What Type Of Parent Are You?

Before you married, did you and your partner discuss parenting styles, roles and values?  Did you talk about how many you wanted or how you would discipline them?  If you didn't discuss these things before and the arguments are just being brought to light now, it brings up another question as to how do you argue?  Our values are deep seeded and most often derived from our childhood and drive our parenting styles.  Are you aware of your own values and how they influence your parenting style?

Our book, "HappyToday Divorced Tomorrow, Paving the way toward Happily ever after",  is in the final stages of editing as we begin our war against Divorce.  As divorce mediators, we understand why people are divorcing and want to help people before it gets to the "Point of No Return".  This is the first email of a series of communications providing tips, stories and suggestions to help you in your relationship and families.  All the information we provide relate back to a chapter in our book.  Please reply back if you have no interest in receiving these emails.

With the Warmest Regards,
Dana and Don

children of divorce

we all know that children get hurt when their parents divorce, and even though sometimes the relief of their parents no longer fighting in the home is positive. unfortunately, children will forget about the fighting or often heal from the trauma and intensity of the yelling or screaming that went on, and be left with the loss and emptiness of a broken home. As the human condition heals, so do the memories of fighting fade. yet the reality for children is their parents live apart, maybe move on to new relationships and their lives are disrupted with schlepping from home to home, hello to mom  good bye to dad, hello to dad goodbye to mon day after day after day
